Sustainable and Durable Solution for
Enhancing Crop Protection
Sustainability
if often spoken in the context of Agriculture, at times both of these terms go
hand in hand. The farmer of today is not just looking at increasing yield –
but, they seek smarter, innovative, and long-lasting materials that help reduce
waste, lower cost, and effectively support the crop. Anti UV or Anti Ultraviolet
Masterbatches are often considered in this context when making these products
for the farmers.
We specialize
in formulating high-performing Anti UV Masterbatches that are specifically
tailored for shade nets, mulch films, greenhouse covers, and a lot more of the
customized needs. With this blog, we would like to share how these
masterbatches help agriculture industry, increase crop life, enhance durability
of the product, and all this while contributing to a greener future.
In simple words, the Anti UV Masterbatches are concentrates that are additive-rich made by combining carriers with pigments, Anti UV stabilizers, and other performance-enhancing agents. As the end products (plastic materials) areexposed to sunlight, the stabilizers help prevent these from photo-degradation. As a result, it extends the life of agricultural plastics.
The UV masterbatches are precisely engineered for compatibility with:
The Challenge: Intense Sun Exposure in Agriculture
The right amount of sun exposure is a blessing for Agriculturists and their crop, but as the climate deteriorates that’s not always possible. This is especially true in countries like India where a high level of solar radiation, UV intensity and heat can rapidly degrade plastic materials that are unprotected. If used for agriculture film application without proper stabilization package, the plastics such as mulch films and nets can easily:
- • Turn brittle and crack over time
- • Fade in colour
- • Easily tear during regular use or laying
- • Fail in the middle of the season and expose crops to heat, weeds, and excess sunlight.
In effect, this leads to a reduced crop protection, increased overall cost in the growth cycle, and a lower yield. Hence, it all adds up to a lower return on investment.
1. UV Masterbatches in Mulch Films: Protecting Crops, Enhancing Yields
Mulch films are critical in agriculture as they help in weed suppression, moisture retention, and soil temperature control. Without proper UV stabilization the mulch film will start breaking down pre maturely, and this in turn will lead to cracks and light leaks, weed invasion, water loss due to uneven soil coverage, and a reduced quality of harvest, and reduced yield.
How JJ Plastalloy Solves This:
- • 800–1200 hours of UV resistance
- • Jet black opacity – blocks over 99% visible light
- • Nano-dispersion technology – uniform pigment distribution, no weak zones
- • Custom MFI, PPA masterbatches & slip masterbatches grades – smooth processing in blown film extrusion
Result: Full crop-cycle coverage with fewer roll changes and higher field efficiency.
2. UV Masterbatches in Shade Nets: Durability That Withstands Seasons
Shade nets are widely used in floriculture and horticulture, nurseries, plantations, and greenhouses, etc. Without proper UV stabilization these shade nets are prone to fade, tear, and losing strength as these are constantly exposed to direct UV radiation.
JJ Plastalloy’s Advantage:
Our UV masterbatches for shade nets ensure:
- • Long-term strength retention
- • Stabilization up to 1500 hours for open-field conditions
- • Colour integrity – shade % and light control maintained
- • Flexibility – reduced chalking and brittleness
